Surround Yourself with Women Working in Public Relations

Successful women in public relations often have one thing in common, and no, it’s not just their incredible wit, intellect, and inner strength!

They’re surrounded by a close network of other successful business women.

Indeed, a recent study showed that a whopping 75% of women in senior positions had “an inner circle of predominantly female contacts who are connected to many non-overlapping third-party contacts.”

Want to find out why this makes such a difference?

Read on to discover why listening to other successful women in business speak at events, and surrounding yourself with other women leaders in networking groups, such as Women in PR, will help grow your career.

1. Encouragement

Being a woman in a male-dominated environment isn’t always easy. It takes guts, resilience, and the ability to handle setbacks with your head held high.

Imagine having the support of women in a similar position, who know what you’re going through and understand the work you’re putting in! They’ll offer encouragement in tricky times, be a sounding board for difficult decisions, and be able to empathize whenever you need a shoulder to lean on.

2. Inspiration

The old Jim Rohn adage goes that you’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. If that’s true, then you can imagine how being surrounded by successful female leaders could benefit your career.

By rubbing shoulders with women who are true leaders in their respective fields, you can’t help but be inspired. You see what’s possible, realize what you’re capable of too, and then set out to achieve it.

3. Determination

Many ambitious, goal-oriented women feel pulled in different directions. They feel pressure to be everything to everyone, experiencing intense guilt if their work makes them tired or puts strain on their relationships.

In these moments, it’s easy to doubt your aspirations and lose sight of your goals. Unless that is, you have a group of understanding women in public relations to pick you up and keep you on track. With shared ambitions and stories to call upon, you motivate each other to persevere.

Surround Yourself with Successful Female Leaders

Trust us, when you’re a woman with big dreams, there’s no shortage of benefits to being around other female leaders and executives. The examples above only scratch the surface of how you stand to gain.

If you’re ready to find a group of like-minded and supportive women in public relations and similar high-ranking roles, then we encourage you to join Women in PR North America as a member. If you want to work on your own publicity strategy to grow your influential personal brand, join us inside the Public Relations Academy.
